Container Transportation

Container transportation is suitable for the transfer of personal effects, vehicles, and commercial goods to Africa. Africa Container Shipping will take care of all logistics matters, selecting the best and most efficient mode of transport for your convenience. All you will have to take care of is the loading of goods at the point of departure, after which we will sort out the transportation of your container by road, rail, and/or water to your designated destination.

We work with a variety of partners and service providers that will offer you a maximum amount of flexibility and guarantee you the best possible solutions.

You export used goods?

For the sake of a sustainable environmental and resource policy, it makes sense to reuse goods and not to dispose of them in case of minor defects. However, it is illegal to export used goods that are in poor condition and therefore considered waste. It is strictly forbidden to dispose of them cheaply in African countries. We at ACS attach great importance that our customers adhere strictly to the regulations. We have summarized a few important tips for you:

It is important to note that cars are treated as Hazardous for shipment, unless the battery has been disconnected and the fuel drained. Vehicules solely powered by a wet or dry electric storage battery or sodium battery must be protected from short-circuit. In other words, also in this case the battery must be disconnected.

Shipments of vehicles, engines, auto spares and machinery are only accepted on the basis that they are clean and have been drained of all oil and are not leaking in any way. Please note that should there be leakage found before, during or after shipment then, it is likely that the floor of the container will need to be replaced at considerable costs to yourselves.

The export of duplicated and tripled tires (tires pressed into each other) without export license is prohibited. Tire tread depth has to be at least 1,6 mm.

If you are shipping Used Electrical and Electronic Equipment, you must ensure that you have met the requirements for shipping Used Electrical and Electronic Equipment. Specifically:

  1. The goods are working and you have available upon request evidence of evaluation / testing in the form of copy records (certificate of testing – proof of functionality capability) on every item with consignment and a protocol containing all record information.
  2. That none of the material or equipment contained within the consignment is waste.
  3. The material and equipment contained within the consignment has been packed sufficiently to protect it during transport, shipping, loading and unloading.

Refrigerators, freezers and other refrigeration equipment must be FCKW free and of natural refrigerant. Example of most common natural and therefore legal to ship refrigerant is r600A.

Substances like paint, glue, flammable liquids, acids, pesticides, petroleum products, etc. are not allowed.

Gas cylinders and other pressure vessels are strictly prohibited and must not be shipped.

Fresh food is not permitted to be shipped unless it is in a refrigerated container provided for this purpose.

Batteries are classified as “dangerous goods” in international transport law and therefore cannot be shipped, unless it is announced and all the IMO documentation and procedure is followed.
